Camp 6th R Nov 27 1861
Dear Father and mother I have the opportunity to write a few lines to you. I am well and in very good health last friday we [marched] 8 miles farther south. We have orders to move today further on, I was on picket last night we had a good breakfast at a house this morning. Last night the rebels took 50 of our cavalry prisoners that went out on a scout on green river I received the things you sent me, I have wrote all I know in this you will find a union pin give it to Mary tell Emmy that I will send her something when i get it write often as you you can. your son
