Description
The photographs and publications in this collection were part of the work of the Farmers Federation of Western North Carolina, an organization founded by James G.K. McClure, Jr. in 1920 in Fairview, North Carolina near Asheville. Eventually the Federation expanded into twenty-one counties in Western North Carolina and affected many aspects of farm families' lives. The photographs in the collection were taken to document these lives and the Federation's work for publications such as The Farmers Federation News, a monthly magazine.
